TAUGHT AND RESEARCH MASTERS DEGREE (MA in Theatre Performance: History, Theory and Practice)

The Degree offers three different programmes:

i. Drama and Performance Theory
ii. Acting/Stage and Costume Design/Directing
iii. Stage Directing
iv. Theatre in Education

One to a maximum of three different programmes are taught per year. The exact programmes taught in every forthcoming academic year are announced in June.

Duration of programme
The MA course expands over two academic semesters of full-time study (October to May), plus an extra semester for the preparation and submission of the postgraduate dissertation or project (18 months in total).

Taught Courses
Courses are taught in Greek while visiting scholars and artists from abroad teach short seminars in English. Winter semester is comprised by two core lecturing classes and a seminar/workshop on major while Spring semester is comprised by one core lecturing class and two seminars/workshops on major. Attendance to class is compulsory.

Dissertation
Students attending the Drama and Performance Theory programme as well as the Theatre in Education programme are required for fulfillment of the MA degree to submit a written dissertation of 15.000-25.000 words.
Students attending the Acting/Stage and Costume Design/Directing course are required for fulfillment of the MA degree to submit a written dissertation of 6.000-12.000 words and an art project on the field of the course chosen.

ECTS: 30 ECTS for each semester + 30 ECTS for the dissertation; total sum of ECTS for the entire programme: 90.

PhD BY RESEARCH DEGREE

Applicants must hold a postgraduate degree on Arts and Humanities, in order to submit a PhD research proposal on Theatre and Performance Studies.
