Professor of Acting and Stage Directing
Damianos Konstantinidis is a theatre director, writer and translator. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy, AUTH, and the Drama School of Roula Pateraki. He got his PhD from the Department of Drama at the Paris X- Nanterre University, France.
In Greece, he has taught directing and acting at the Drama School of “Proscenium”, at the Drama School of the State Theatre of Northern Greece and the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of Patra, Greece.
As a theatre director, he has directed, in France, plays by Lorca, Büchner, Beckett, Genet, Corneille, Armand Robin, Princess Palatine and Checkov.
In Greece, he has directed for independent theatre groups such as “Lyki Vythou”, “Pandimos Ios”, “Exo apo ta Teihi” and “Angelus Novus” (of which he is also a principal member) as well as the Municipal, Regional Theatre of Kavala, the State Theatre of Northern Greece”, and the Athens Festival (with the group 3L-Logi Ludi Loci). In his directions he worked on texts by Homer, Aeschylus, Euripides, A. Papadiamantis, T. Sinopoulos, Bost, A. Staikos, E. Merkenidou, K. S. Damianos, D. Dimitriadis, Shakespeare, de Sade, Wilde, Andersen, Perrault, Nina Berberova, Maeterlinck, Fassbinder, Beckett, Heiner Müller, Rodrigo Garcia, J. Swift, Strindberg.
He has translated in Greek plays, among others, by Maeterlinck, Heiner Müller, Rodrigo Garcia, Strindberg), Denis Bablet’s and Jacqueline Jomaron’s La Mise en Scène Contemporaine, I & II and a number of essays and articles published in journals and periodicals.
