Imprints of Tradition in Greek theatre from the Beginning of the 1870’s up to the Balkan Wars

Research coordinator: Konstantina Ritsatou

This project has been financed by the Research Committee of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the framework of the Action C, which aimed at the strengthening of research in the Humanities (project no. 91453. July 2014 –October 2015). The project revealed the high interest of this subject and mapped the related theatrical landscape. Catalogues of plays and authors, as well as a chronicle of productions of the respective plays, have been created. Relevant theoretical texts have been detected and exploited (Kostis Palamas’ Complete Works are thoroughly indexed) and a great number of primary sources related to European Symbolism (a movement which had an important influence on the studied cultural phenomenon) has been collected. Thus a valuable base for the development of theoretical and artistic activities is now available.
